| CHIRAL/CHIRALITY |
|
|
Chiral is the
delivery system used by Scosh Skincare. It delivers
ingredients into the skin so they do not lay on top
of the skin. Every molecule found in nature is
Chiral. (‘kī-rul’, is Greek for hands.) Chiral
molecules are identical mirror images of each other,
meaning they have a "left" and a "right" chemical
orientation, much like our hands. The skin is
comprised of millions of chiral receptors, which
dictate instructions to the cells. Only through
receptors can the body access nutrients, drugs, and
locally applied products. Applying the wrong chiral
twin to the skin results in either poor response,
irritation or no effectiveness. It’s like trying to
put a right-handed glove on your left hand, it
simply doesn't work. For a product to be optimally
effective, it must be received by a specific
receptor, therefore chirally correct. Scosh products
fit because they are chirally correct. They are more
concentrated, more effective and less irritating
than any other product available today.
The chiral process is so effective that the FDA
mandated all new pharmaceuticals must be chirally
formulated (if possible) prior to being introduced
to the public. In 2001, the Nobel Prize in Chemistry
was shared by three scientists who devised
techniques for and the use of chiral catalysts. |

| FREE RADICAL |
|
|
Free radicals
are atoms or molecules in your body with an unpaired
electron…making them highly unstable. Because
electrons normally come in pairs, the free radicals
collide with other molecules in an attempt to steal
an electron, and may start a chain reaction,
wreaking havoc on your DNA and cells and leading to
all kinds of diseases. Free radical scavengers, or
antioxidants, bind with the free radicals before
they can do their damage. |

| GLYCOLIC ACID
POLYMER |
|
SOURCE: |
Rhubarb |
|
BENEFITS: |
Glycolic acid
reduces corneocyte cohesion and corneum layer
thickening where
excess dead skin cell buildup can be associated with
many common skin problems. Glycolic acid
acts by dissolving the intercellular cement
responsible for abnormal keratinization. It also
appears to improve skin hydration by enhanced
moisture uptake as well as increased binding of
water to the stratum corneum. This leads to a
sloughing of dead skin cells that has demonstrated
effectiveness in helping clear the pores of
acne-prone skin; smoothing the fine lines in older,
photo-aged skin; and diminishing the signs of
actinic keratosis, commonly referred to as age or
liver spots. Provides relief to thick, dry skin.
Promotes healthy glycine (simplest of all
proteins, builds amino acids) production/utilization
for collagen and elastin. Smoothes and
thickens the skin, using a "polymer" is much more
natural to the skin - which itself is a
polymer, helps to strengthen collagen and elastin,
smoothes flaws. |

PALMITATE, Retinol |
|
SOURCE: |
Retinol e.g.
cod liver oil, liver, egg yolks and dairy products,
carotenoids e.g. dark
green leafy vegetables (spinach and broccoli),
yellow-orange vegetable (carrots, squash,
cantaloupe) and red vegetables (tomatoes) |
|
BENEFITS: |
Can act as a
keratinization regulator, helping to improve skin's
texture,
firmness and smoothness. It is believed that Vitamin
A esters, once in the skin, convert to
retinoic acid and provide anti-aging benefits.
Vitamin A is believed to be essential for the
generation and function of skin cells. Surface
application of Vitamin A helps prevent skin
dryness and scaliness, keeping the skin healthy,
clear, and infection resistant. Its skin
regenerating properties appear enhanced when
combined with Vitamin E. Natural vitamin A has
healing properties, is an anti-oxidant. Maintains
health of moist, soft tissues such as mucous membranes, skin, hair and eyes, repair and renewal
vitamin. |
| VITAMIN B COMPLEX,

|
BENEFITS: |
Acts as a
penetrating moisturizer. Appears to stimulate
cellular proliferation
and aides in tissue repair. Studies indicate that
when topically applied, Panthenol penetrates
the skin and is converted into Panthothenic Acid, a
B complex vitamin. Non-irritating,
non-sensitizing, moisturizing and conditioning feel
and promotes normal keratinization and wound
healing. Protects the skin against sunburn, provides
relief for existing sunburn and enhances
natural tanning process. Its humectantcharacter
enables panthenol to hold water in the product
or attract water from the environment, resulting in
a moisturizing effect. As a skin softener it
provides suppleness, and claims are that it also
acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. |

Vegetable
sources e.g. wheat germ oil. All green leafy
vegetables, brown rice,
cold-pressed oils, cornmeal, dry beans, eggs, milk,
nuts |
|
BENEFITS: |
Fat soluble
anti-oxidant and free radical scavenger. Heals and
repairs damaged
tissues and in reducing scars. It is also a
photoprotectant, and helps protect the cellular
membrane from free radical damage. Serves as a
preservative function due to its ability to
protect against oxidation. It is well absorbed
through the skin, demonstrating a strong affinity
with small blood vessels. Considered to improve the
skin's water-binding ability. Vitamin E
emulsions have been found to reduce transepidermal
water loss, thereby improving the appearance
of rough, dry, and damaged skin. This vitamin is
also believed to help maintain the connective
tissue. There is also evidence that Vitamin E is
effective in preventing irritation, due to sun
exposure. Vitamin E appears to counteract decreased
functioning of the sebaceous glands and
reduce excessive skin pigmentation, which is found
to increase almost linearly with age, natural
healing and anti-oxidants of vitamin E. |
